We’ve all heard it…a friend or co-worker, or even a family member spouting off about another person. “Oh, how stupid can they be? I would never do that!” Or something to that effect.
You know what? That accomplishes nothing. First off, how do you know what you would do in another person’s situation? You are not that person. You most likely do not know all the details of that situation. And let’s face it, we can all say something like that but it is not our feelings that are involved So how do you really know what you would do?
Let me give you an example. Look at the wife who has been left by her husband. Her friend may say something like “Oh heck, I would never take him back. He can go jump in the lake.”
But it is not YOUR husband. YOUR feelings are not involved.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for all involved is to just be a supportive listener, but, at the very least, get all the facts first before you open your mouth.
