Let’s Do It…


Let’s do it…let’s get a little (or a lot) of enthusiasm!

Instead of just moping around being all depressed that we have to work or that we have chore to do that may not be our favorite, let’s switch it up.

Sit up straight at your desk. Smile. Take a deep breath and say out loud “I am grateful for this day and I’m going to make it the best day I can!”

Do you feel a change in the energy? If yes, then great, but if no, then do it again until you feel it.

We’re going to work; we’re going to do some chore that is not exactly our favorite thing to do- so why not make it as pleasant as we possibly can? It will make the day better for ourselves and everyone around us.

How Strongly…

How strongly do you feel…about the things you think you want? Are you willing to go to bat for them wholeheartedly, to give it your all? Or at the first sign of trouble will you say to yourself something like “Oh, I guess this wasn’t meant to be. I’d better find something else to do although I really liked the idea of doing (you fill in the blank)”
Did you know Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to climb to the peak of Mt. Everest in May of 1953 actually failed to reach its summit in 1952?
He felt like a failure even when he was being honored for his valiant attempt.
It was only when he shook his fist at a picture of the mountain and said something like “you’re not going to beat me!” And then he gathered himself up, got himself ready, took a deep breath and started up the summit again, this time to be victorious.
So how strongly do you feel about the goals you have for yourself? Are you willing to put it all on the line to achieve them or will you back down when the going gets a little tough?

Choose Wisely…


Choose wisely…your friends. It has been said that we tend to “take on” the characteristics of those closest to us. Do you want to be around people who encourage you and make you smile? Do you want to be around people who support your goals? (And you do the same for them)

Think about your friendships. Is there one that you have been questioning for awhile? Is there something you could do to improve that relationship and have you tried?

If so, it may be time to move on. Sad, yes it is, but we all know when they point has been reached. We need to offer support but also receive it as well.

It’s What You Make It…


It’s what you make it…life. Do you choose to be appreciative? Are you happy for a sunny day or a hot cup of coffee? Or are those things just “mundane” and they don’t count? Are you sitting there just moping around and waiting to win the lottery or for your old rich uncle to kick the bucket? Do you figure that having all that cash will finally make you happy?

Well guess what…it won’t. Well, it will for a little while but then that feeling will wear off and you’ll be moping around again looking for some more rich relatives to pass away.

Be happy now! Be grateful now. Cultivate an attitude of appreciation. It will each day feel special and you won’t have to wait for a funeral.

Are You Taking The Time…


Are you taking some time..to connect with your inner self? Do you pay attention to that little voice when it calls to you? Or do you close it off and instead listen to the voice of others.

Now listening to others is not a bad thing- we can learn valuable lessons form others. But when somebody is giving you advice and that little voice is literally screaming no, no. no- then perhaps it’s time to start listening to that inner you- because that is the best possible advice to take.

Do You Keep Track…


Do you keep track? Do you write down your goals? If not, why not?

Just the act of writing then down makes them more concrete. The idea of crossing things you’ve gotten done is very motivating. Get yourself the kind of notebook you like and the kind of writing instrument you like. Make it a pleasurable experience to keep a goal list. Keep it with you and review and update as you see fit.

The act of writing things down helps us immeasurably. Why not give it a try and see if it works for you.
